I VijayKumar P. Konar, founder and President of Swarajya Social Welfare Organization would like to share my experience and intent behind the establishment of our organization.
Since my early childhood I was very intrigued and inspired by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's life and ideology. Me and my friends used to come together to celebrate Shiv Jayanti (the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj), in our locality with great zeal and enthusiasm. As I grew older, my interest in adventure activities like trekking and mountaineering, attracted me towards visiting many of the forts in Maharashtra which were built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj during his regime. While enroute to these forts, I came across various villages in the rural and tribal areas of Maharashtra.
During these trips, I got to see the hardships and various problems faced by the people living in rural and tribal areas.
Every time I travelled to any rural area, I used to feel sad thinking that our beloved king dedicated his whole life to establish Swarajya and work towards prosperity and well being of these very people, who are still struggling to meet the basic needs of life.
At that moment, I decided that if I am a real ardent follower of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, then I should do something for the underprivileged, but had no idea what and how should I go about it. I then tried to provide help to best of my ability but somewhere I felt my efforts lacked the effect that I intended to have. I realized that there was need to bring an impactful change rather than providing small help.
In this period, I got an opportunity to attend a lecture from renowned speaker on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's life and I got a solution from the events of his life story. In that lecture, the speaker explained how Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj brought about the change by joining people together and working towards the goal of establishment of Swarajya.
Inspired by this story, I with few of my friends sharing similar vision came together and formed this organization on the auspicious day of Shiv Jayanti 19th Feb 2014 and named the organization Swarajya Bahu Udeshiya Sanstha with reference to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's Swarajya, now known as Swarajya Social Welfare Organization. This way we started our journey to bring about the change in lives of the underprivileged and looking at our social work projects, many followers of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj joined us in this social cause. It has been six years since the inception of our organization and we are proud to share our work carried out in this six year period.
